MODERNISM STYLES STUDIED:
Starting in the early 1820's Packaging and Branding was discovered to play a key role in consumers trusting a company. About the same time the ISM's of art and design were evolving.
FUTURISM
DADAISM (Heartfield) used montage
DESTIJL abstract shapes are the foundation for all design (Van Doesburg)
CONSTRUCTIVISM dynamic diagonal lines (Lissitzsky)
CUBISM
EACH MOVEMENT HAD KEY NOTABLE DESIGNERS.
(Rodchenko) used realism and the abstract.
(Marinetti) used text in a way that was emotive.
(Mallarme) was a typographer who used type to create hierarchy and to improve reading.
